Slack
Communication & Meetings
Slack promises get lost. Fokus schedules them.
Capture tasks from messages with /fokus, auto-import your @mentions, and let emoji reactions keep both sides honest about what’s done.
Integrations
What Fokus adds
Not a mirror of the other tool — capabilities that only exist once the two are connected.
Any message can become a task
Type /fokus or use the message action, and the Slack message becomes a Fokus task — with a link back to the exact thread for when you actually do the work.
@mentions never slip through
When someone @mentions you, Fokus can create the task automatically and confirm capture with a 👀 reaction — the asker knows it’s tracked without you typing a word.
Emoji reactions drive status — both ways
Add ✅ to the message and the task completes in Fokus. As the task moves in Fokus, the original message collects 👀 created, ⏳ scheduled, ✅ completed.
The channel hears when it’s done
On completion, Fokus can post a threaded reply on the original message — closure lands where the request was made, not in a status meeting.
Saved messages import too
Save (star) a message for yourself in Slack and it turns up as a task — your private “later” pile finally gets a schedule.
How the sync works
Under the hood
The Slack Events API streams mentions, saved messages and reactions to Fokus in real time; Fokus posts reactions and threaded replies back as the task changes state.
-
You’re @mentioned in a channel
A task appears in Fokus, 👀 confirms capture
-
You schedule the task in Fokus
The original message gets a ⏳ reaction
-
Someone adds ✅ to the message
The task completes in Fokus
-
You complete the task in Fokus
✅ and a threaded reply land on the message

Feature Preferences
Each Slack behavior is a separate switch per workspace, plus a channel filter to keep the bot where you want it:
-
Auto-import @mentions
Automatically create tasks when you are @mentioned in Slack channels.
-
Import saved messages
Messages you save (star) in Slack become tasks too — off by default.
-
Reaction-based status sync
Toggle task completion by adding ✅ or ☑️ to Slack messages linked to tasks.
-
Task lifecycle reactions
Fokus reacts on the original message to reflect status: 👀 created, ⏳ scheduled, ✅ completed.
-
Threaded reply on completion
Post a threaded reply in Slack when a task created from a message is completed.
-
Limit to specific channels
- #engineering
- #support-escalations
Leave empty to monitor all channels the bot has access to — or fence it into the channels where real work happens.
Panel shown as it appears in the Fokus app. Every control is optional — defaults work out of the box.
